After a month off (due to exams) I want to come back writing for the blog, this time with a theme very close to me. For the second consecutive year, Giorgio Armani is committed to Green Cross International (www.gcint.org) to support its programs of access to drinking water in communities where it is rare, and raise awareness to this important cause.

From March 1 to May 31, 2012, the operation of Water for Life, campaign of solidarity on a global scale, has allowed us to further increase this support to GCI, and its Smart Water for Green Schools program, which pays particular attention to the children situation in Ghana and, for the first time in Bolivia. This program aims to develop infrastructure to supply water to villages and directly to schools and thus improve the hygiene conditions of the children attending the school.

During this period, for every purchase of a fragrance Acqua di Gio and Acqua di Gioia, Giorgio Armani has donated the equivalent of GCI to 100L of water. The operation also led to a turn-key digital terms: each new facebook fan page Water for Life immediately gave 50L of water.

With this project, Giorgio Armani has achieved important results. In fact across the country were collected 52,125,629 liters of drinking water, ie 20.3% more than in 2011.

The access to safe water remains a major challenge of our planet. More than 900 million individuals around the world are still without drinking water. Children are the first victims of the lack of water and its pollution, as are the weakest in the world every day and 4,000 of them die from diseases contracted from drinking water is not potable.

  12. It's good when people like Giorgi Armani ,and other very public figures, support a cause like this. Not only do they have the immediate resources to do it, it inspires other people to do good as well. I wish there were more public figures supporting causes such as these. Water in particular is a vital source for life. I went on my first camping trip recently, and we had to pump out own water to be filtered from a lake, it was exhausting. We pumped water, on average, 5 times a day. I can't imagine living with the constant need to find fresh water. Great post.
